Dreamy Max Patch Sunset Engagement

Just outside of Knoxville, Tennessee is one of the most beautiful places in the world. Max Patch, North Carolina provided the perfect dreamy backdrop to this engagement session.

Make no mistake, it's not easy to get to Max Patch. But you have to set intention.

Intention. It's a word that doesn't seem as fun and whimsical as phrases like "follow your heart" and "not all who wander are lost." Although the words "wild" and "free" describe most Heritage Held clients, I have found that they didn't all start out that way. To find beautiful things like LASTING LOVE and a FREE SPIRIT and LIGHT AND PEACE, I have found you must set an intention. Just as some of the most beautiful locations in the world mean you must travel off the beaten path, so does nurturing a love that will last a lifetime.

Every day we are faced with choices. Should we eat the food that will nurture our bodies? Should we say kind words? Should I really take the time to brush my teeth? (Please, do!) But if we are consistently making those choices that help and grow us, then the likelihood is we set the intention to do so long ago, so that it has become a habit now.

When Emily, Tyler, myself, and the rest of the crew that was with us decided to make the trek to Max Patch, we could have easily gotten distracted. We could have swung off to eat somewhere. We could have decided halfway up that we were tired (because we were!) and the view there was good enough. But several weeks earlier we had set the intention to capture the beginning of their journey at the top of Max Patch.  So we chose to ignore those other things that might have been fun or easier, and we continued to the top. As you can see, we got quite the reward.

So my words to you, Emily and Tyler, and all of you readers who are at the beginning of whatever journey - may it be marriage, health, school, a hobby, or even just trying to wake up earlier in the morning - is to SET YOUR INTENTION. There will be days you don't want to continue to the top. But if your intention is set, you will know there are no other options. And your reward will be a deep breath and a beautiful view. So drink it in, friend. Drink in every step and difficult choice along the way. Accept the hard things, and continue the trek to the top. I believe in you. Emily and Tyler - I believe in your love.
